Florence Nightingale

The Florence Nightingale Health Centre is situated in Church Langley and was the first new development undertaken by Harlow Health Centres Trust. The centre was completed in 1997 and officially opened on 12th May 1999 – National Nurses Day- by Karen Webb, Regional Director of Services for the Royal College of Nursing.

The Health Centre was extended in 2006/2007 and the Trust worked closely with the Princess Alexandra NHS Hospital Trust in providing a new purpose-built Child Development Centre. The services provided by the doctors, dentists and pharmacist were also expanded to meet the increasing growth within the area.

Tesco’s donated a parcel of land adjacent to the existing building to make the expansion possible. The building works started in August 2006 and were completed in November 2007.

The Trust commissioned a local artist, Nicola Burrell, to produce a piece of sculpture which was erected on the grass area outside the original building.
